NASHVILLE — Tennessee Republican Party officials say their annual Statesmen's Dinner fundraiser on Friday is on track to be one of its most successful events in state GOP history.
U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, R-Tenn., is the dinner chairman, while Scott Golden is party chairman.
"It is with great honor that our numbers for this dinner stand where they are right now," Fleischmann, an Ooltewah Republican, said in a news release. "I along with my committee are working hard to make this the biggest dinner to date."
The dinner to support state GOP efforts "is not about one man or one campaign," Fleischmann added. "It is about instilling and ensuring conservative leadership in Tennessee for years to come."
Golden said he's "tremendously proud of the work that Congressman Fleischmann and our team have put into this year's dinner. The theme of the night is 'A Party United' as Republicans from across the state gather to celebrate our party's success, honor those that helped get us here, and look towards the future."
The party chairman said Tennessee "is the example of what can happen with unified Republican leadership, and this year's dinner will help make sure that we continue on the right path in 2018."
U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., is the keynote speaker. Scalise and Fleischmann are friends.
The event is being held at the Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville.
