Who will find the golden tickets is the question when Youth Ensemble Theater of Dalton Little Theatre presents "Willy Wonka Jr." in six performances beginning Friday, June 8. It's a scrumdiddlyumptious musical guaranteed to delight all ages.
Douglas McClure will direct the delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on her visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's tale.
Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, June 8-9 and 15-16, with 2 p.m. matinees on Sunday, June 10, and Saturday, June 16.
The musical will feature the familiar songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder in addition to other fun tunes.
"Willy Wonka Jr." follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka, played by Keenan Pasqua, as he stages a contest. Wonka hides golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy.
Four of the five winning children are spoiled rotten, but the fifth is a likeable young girl named Charlie Bucket, played by Henley Green, who takes the tour with her gruff, yet fun-loving, grandfather, performed by Rowdy Zeisig. The children must learn to follow Wonka's rules in the factory or suffer the consequences.
Children from all over Northwest Georgia have come together to present a show the whole family will enjoy.
Tickets are $10. For tickets or more information: https://daltonlittletheatre.ticketleap.com/willy-wonka-jr.
