Applications are due Monday, May 28, for Manifest Voices, the summer poetry sessions for teens sponsored by Southern Lit Alliance.

The free, eight-week poetry workshop for ages 13-18 offers a fun, welcoming space for individual creative expression. The workshop will conclude with a slam poetry night on July 29. The program will be coordinated by spoken-word artist Christian Collier.

Collier is a 2015 Loft Spoken Word Immersion Fellow. He has shared the stage with several members of HBO's Def Poetry cast, legendary poet and activist Ishmael Reed, Grammy-nominated artist Minton Sparks and The Impressions.

He has repeatedly been featured on the IndieFeed Performance Poetry Channel, and has been published in such publications as The Seven Hills Review, Dirty Chai, Voicemail Poems, Calliope Magazine and The Origami Poetry Project.

Manifest Voices will meet at 6 p.m. on Mondays beginning June 4 through July 23. The group will meet in The Arts Building, 301 E. 11th St.

Class space is limited. To submit an application or read more about the workshop leader, go to www.southernlitalliance.org/manifest-voices.
