Building on the success of its Saturday night street party, Winter in West Village, the newly revitalized West Village just launched a Friday night event along West Eighth Street called Out on 8th.

Scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. each Friday through Oct. 5, Out on 8th offers appetizers and small plates, cocktails and beer, coffee from Peet's and more nibbles from eateries and shops in West Village. Eighth Street is closed between Pine and Chestnut streets so visitors can enjoy the best of the West Village in a relaxed atmosphere.

You might think of it as a warm-up party for Nightfall, the free summer concert series in Miller Plaza on Fridays at 7 p.m. The two are easily within walking distance; stop by Out on 8th after work for a bite, then stroll over two blocks to Miller Plaza on Market Street for the music.

For the launch of Out on 8th on June 1, there were margaritas and guacamole and chips from Citron et Sel, sangria and caprese skewers from Alimentari, yogurt from Pinkberry, music by Megan Howard, floral crowns from Fox & Fern, a table of gift ideas from Antibes and potter Jonathan Clardy gave pottery demonstrations at his wheel.

Each week's street party will feature local musical and visual artists along with an ever-changing variety of foods.
