History and visual arts combine for the third community event sponsored by the Fort Oglethorpe Thriving Communities Team on Saturday, June 16, at the Barnhardt Circle polo field near the 6th Cavalry Museum in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Two local clubs in the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball will go head to head in a free game at noon on the polo field. The Lightfoot Club and Mountain City Club will play for the 6th Cavalry Championship Cup. The Lightfoot Club won the cup in 2016; Mountain City won in 2017.

Vintage base ball (which separates baseball into two words) is living history designed to entertain and educate spectators by re-creating the sport as it was played in the 1860s. Each game, called a match, is played with wooden bats, no gloves, no strike zone and underhand pitching.

Spectators should bring lawn chairs or blankets since there is no bleacher seating.

Also on Saturday, the third interactive art walk for the North Georgia community will be held at Barnhardt Circle.

Art fun for all ages will be offered with four chalk easels on-site for visitors to show off their artistic skills compliments of Home Depot. The 6th Cavalry Museum will be open free to the public, where Ridgeland High School's art exhibit "The World at War and on the Home Front" is on view.

Artist and illustrator Andy Duggan will be the featured artist at the art walk. Duggan, a Chattanooga native, has an associate's degree in art but is primarily self-taught. He creates digital art.

His work includes Seaclops Comics (a web-based comic), Hero Cats (Action Lab Entertainment) and many projects with Topps trading cards and Upper Deck, including Marvel and Star Wars.

Duggan will create artwork throughout the day and have his art for display and for sale.
