After a successful launch last month, local event planner Conscious Community Coordinators is hosting the second Mindful Market Chattanooga on Saturday, June 23. The community-wide gatherings emphasize education for the mind, body and soul.

The markets feature activities and free sessions with local vendors and practitioners such as hypnotherapists, chiropractors, drug-free pain relief consultants and spiritual coaches so that attendees can learn holistic ways to improve their overall health.

This month's event features a plethora of healthy food vendors, practitioners and counselors. With no cost for admission, families can also come to enjoy local music groups, food, fun activities and classes with health professionals. There will be a bounce house for kids and sidewalk sales from the surrounding businesses.

The first 50 attendees will receive free goody bags containing items donated by the market's vendors.

"Our goal is to bring together the community for a fun time while giving them a space to learn about different healthy services that the community provides," said Lindsey Drury, owner of Conscious Community Coordinators.

Each Mindful Market's funds are put toward local groups or organizations. Drury said the last market raised enough for more than 100 food vouchers for Feed it Forward, a program of local vegan food truck The Green Tambourine that gives free meals to Chattanoogans in need.

The money raised during June's event will be donated to the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults, which provides families with counseling, crisis intervention and prevention services. The organization's participants are encouraged to attend, and will receive a free haircut and meal.

Conscious Community Coordinators is working toward obtaining nonprofit status, Drury said, and plans to host a Mindful Market every month through September.

June's Mindful Market Chattanooga is being held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. outside of 423 St. Francis clothing store at 423 E. M.L. King Blvd.
