If your business relies upon the telephone, the quality of the sound of what you say and hear could be critical to your success.

Plantronics, which owns Clarity Inc. in Chattanooga, wants to make it your business to hear and to be heard with its Voyager Focus UC stereo bluetooth headset. The company brags that with the new device "you're not just on the call. You're in it."

Most land-line phones include equipment to filter out background noises and target phone microphones to maximize your voice. Noise cancellation can be achieved in different ways, including microphone shape and positioning, digital signal processing, and other tech words. Some headsets even come with a special wind sock that practically eliminates all wind noise.

But wireless phones are not always as reliable, both because the filtering process requires a lot of battery energy and because people walking around with wireless headsets are more apt to be in noisier surroundings.

The Voyager Focus boasts a 12-hour battery life. Such devices are not cheap with a price tag of $299.95. But they offer seamless connectivity to your PC or smartphone, and integration with leading UC application with up to 98 feet of wireless range.
