Chattanooga FC wins 2-1 in Asheville for Blue Ridge Derby victory

The Chattanooga Football Club improved to 2-0 on its five-game run of road games by winning the Blue Ridge Derby on Saturday night in Asheville, North Carolina.

CFC beat Asheville City FC 2-1 in front of 2,582 after tying the same team 1-1 on May 23 in Chattanooga, and so retains possession of the victory keg trophy in the series started last year.

The road swing continues next Saturday in Greenville, South Carolina, with a 7:30 p.m. match against Greenville FC at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium. CFC then has matches against Inter Nashville FC on June 9 and the New Orleans Jesters on June 16 before hosting the Atlanta Silverbacks on June 20 at Finley Stadium.

In Asheville, CFC (3-0-2) built a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by Felipe Oliveira, who scored after Joao Costa beat a defender and fed the ball into a streaking Oliveira in the 39th minute.

Oliveira was on the other end of a goal in the 61st minute, finding Charlie Clarke to make it 2-0. Asheville cut the lead in half on a goal by Cameron Saul in the 81st minute, and CFC's defense and goalkeeper Phil D'Amico held on from there.
