Baylor School seniors Henry Hooks and Keegan Weekley signed celebratory letters of intent this week to continue their soccer careers together at nearby Division III member Covenant College.

Both had chances to go farther away. Goalkeeper Hooks ultimately picked the Scots over Berry College because of the prestigious Maclellan Scholarship he received from the Lookout Mountain school, but he was recruited also by Montreat, Tennessee Wesleyan, King and Southern Wesleyan.

Weekley, a center midfielder for Baylor, picked the program where his father once starred over football kicking opportunities at Mercer, Tennessee Tech, Birmingham-Southern and Berry.

"I just enjoy soccer more," Weekley said, and he, like Hooks, found the "Covenant community" very welcoming and enjoyable to be around. "I love that it's a Christian school."

Hooks has a 0.59 goals-against average this season. He has become increasingly superb, Baylor coach Curtis Blair, "after deciding after his freshman year to dedicate himself wholly to soccer."

"Both of them are great young men who will do well at Covenant," Blair added. "They understand what Covenant is all about and exemplify that on and off the field.
