Drug Free Pain Relief and WELLNESS

I hope this October Wednesday finds our readers happy and feeling great! If that's not the case, Pulse Centers may be able to help! For those of you who have followed along with our articles over the last several months, you know our primary focus has been on pain relief. Today I'd like to shift our focus to the wellness side of PEMF and how it can help with something many of us suffer with during this time of the year: sinus pressure and congestion.

First, let's review what PEMF is for those of you who may not be familiar. At Pulse Centers we provide drug free pain relief using a cutting edge technology called Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields or PEMF. Our PEMF treatments supply energy the body needs to fuel its own healing potential. This energy is delivered directly to the cells through gentle pulses directed to the area of need. For a more in depth explanation, visit our website or look back at some of our previous articles.

Sinus congestion is more than just an annoyance, it has a significant negative impact on our whole body health. When air can't pass through the nasal cavity, mouth breathing begins. While it may seem like a small difference, mouth breathing is actually a very serious issue. When breathing through our mouth we lose our body's first line of defense against airborne pathogens, germs, and allergens. Our nasal and sinus cavities serve as an intricate filtration system that removes these harmful airborne substances before they reach our lungs and ultimately our blood stream. The first problem we face is obviously the unfiltered viruses and bacteria that enter the body and cause sickness.

When nose breathing isn't possible, every particle we breathe in goes directly into our lungs. Our lungs quickly become overwhelmed with all the "debris" and many negative processes begin. The lungs' capacity to do their primary job of putting oxygen into our blood stream decreases and this affects every single system of the body. Typically, the first symptom we notice is a general feeling of weakness or fatigue. The decline continues as body systems struggle to maintain optimum functioning levels with a decreased supply of necessary oxygen.

Dry mouth is another effect of mouth breathing we tend to notice almost immediately. Again, this may seem like a small thing but the risk of tooth decay and periodontal disease increase exponentially as the amount of saliva present in the mouth is decreased. Saliva acts as a cleansing agent for the mouth, it keeps the teeth and oral tissues well lubricated, and it also helps to regulate the pH levels which directly impact growth of the bacteria responsible for tooth decay and periodontal disease.

Now, let's talk about the science behind how PEMF helps relieve sinus congestion then we'll look at what's involved in a treatment session. As we said earlier, the gentle pulses delivered during our sessions penetrate the cell wall and introduce energy to these life-sustaining units. This allows healing to be ignited on the deepest level. PEMF isn't magic, and it certainly isn't a system of smoke and mirrors as we see all too often with products on the market today. PEMF is to our cells what a charger is to our cell phones. PEMF supplies our cells with the energy necessary to ignite and fuel our body's own natural healing process. Because these pulses don't meet natural obstacles, they can be delivered to every "nook and cranny" of our sinuses, reaching areas other techniques simply can't access. While the body's natural healing process is being fueled, the congestion is also being mechanically disrupted by the pulses allowing them to exit the body through the nose and/or mouth.

As you can see in the pictures here, the sinus-focused PEMF treatments are non-invasive and they are provided in a comfortable environment. Depending on your personal preference, you can spend your treatment time in a chair or on a bed. The sessions range in time from 15 minutes to a full hour depending on factors unique to each individual. On your first visit we will do a thorough consultation and work with you to determine your ideal treatment regimen.
