Mernith R. Mobley, 86, a resident of Hixson and formerly of Winter Haven Fla., and Chickamauga, Ga., passed away June 13, 2018, at a local hospital. He was born and raised in Live Oak, Fla., and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn. Mernith was a farmer, mechanic, business owner and happy retiree. Most importantly he was a beloved father, grandfather, teacher to his children and the best friend one could have. Being a polio survivor enhanced his self-determination and he never let polio limit him. Mr. Mobley was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Edna Mobley; sister, Patricia Jerkins. Survivors include children, Robert (Diane Barber) Mobley and Sharyl (Gene) Smith; siblings, Sandra Hart and Billy (Margaret) Mobley; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy-Daisy. Interment will follow at a later date in McAlpin, Fla. His family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Soddy-Daisy. Arrangements are by Cremation Center of Chattanooga, 1345 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga.
